Nursing Professional Development Consultant

Description:
Provides program planning/management, consultative and strategic planning services to regional and local senior executives and nursing executives in order to assess/evaluate, maintain, improve and develop professional nursing education, development, and practices; and to align the same with strategic organizational goals/objectives.
Provides educational support for research utilization activities and development of strategies to evaluate/implement and manage best practice models that improve nursing and organizational performance.

Essential Functions:
- Assesses education/professional development needs identified by data, evaluation, outcomes, key stakeholders, organizational/strategic goals, senior nursing, other executives and authorities.
- Provides linkage between identified educational needs and current and planned programs offered by internal and external sources/partners.
Utilizes data from various sources to plan and improve programs and activities that ensure nursing quality and outcomes.
- Plans, develops, implements and evaluates collaborative and innovative education/continuous learning strategies and programs for Divisional nursing personnel and aligns education/professional development and continuous learning.
- Plans, develops, maintains, and evaluates program effectiveness; improves, and oversees existing professional education/development/learning services and programs throughout the California regions.
- Develops and maintains external contractual partnerships with private and public sector organizations, academic institutions/organizations and learning vendors in order to establish and maintain a flexible and competent nursing work force that can be utilized across a variety of roles, functions and patient-care settings.
- In collaboration with Nursing Services and external partners, develops and implements nursing education/development plans, guidelines, standards and policies; coordinates curricula related to specialty programs and cross-training; establishes and evaluates education/development and advanced degree/learning programs.
- Develops short, intermediate and long-range education/development plans to support-identified current and future needs for nursing resources and professional practice, as well as organizational/strategic goals and objectives.
- Manages and develops the strategic planning of professional nursing education, development and learning programs, standards, goal/objectives related to enhancing professional practice and meeting organizational/business needs.
Some travel throughout the State required, depending on strategic initiatives.
- Kaiser Permanente conducts compensation reviews of positions on a routine basis.

Basic
Qualifications:
Experience- Minimum five (5) years of experience in the areas of teaching, complex curriculum design, development and evaluation.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in nursing research, process improvement, clinical management or other closely related healthcare field.
Education- Master's degree in nursing, education or health care related field required.
License, Certification, Registration- Current California RN License required.
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to independently utilize skills/knowledge in statistical analysis, outcome measurement/educational program evaluation and qualitative and quantitative research.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize communication, consultation, facilitation, influencing, negotiation and interpersonal skills on an expert level with variety of management and other personnel, including external partners/groups.
- Ability to utilize multiple software programs, video conferencing, inter-active media and interactive distance learning/website and network materials/resources.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
